German consulates general in Russia to stop accepting national visa applications in June

YEKATERINBURG. May 10 (Interfax) - German consulates general in Russia will stop accepting national visa applications, yet such applications will be processed by the embassy in Moscow, the German consulate general in Yekaterinburg said.

"Visa sections of the consulates general in Kaliningrad, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg and Novosibirsk will stop accepting applications on May 31, 2023," the consulate said.

It will not be possible to make an appointment for the submission of documents with the visa section of a consulate or a VisaMetric visa center from June 1. Instead, the applicants will have to use the appointment system of the German embassy in Moscow.

"It will still be possible to make an appointment for the submission of Schengen visa applications in Kaliningrad, St. Petersburg, Moscow, Yekaterinburg and Novosibirsk via our service partner, VisaMetric," the consulate said, adding that it would take longer to process the applications due to the mailing of documents.
