Ukrainian FM leaves for visit to Guatemala

MOSCOW. May 10 (Interfax) - Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba has said he is on his way to Guatemala to take part in a meeting of the Ministerial Council of the Association of the Caribbean States, Ukrainian media reported with reference to Kuleba's social account.

This is the first time a Ukrainian foreign minister is visiting Guatemala, the first time a Ukrainian foreign minister is to take part in a meeting of the Ministerial Council of the Association of the Caribbean States, and the first visit of a Ukrainian foreign minister to Latin America in the past ten years, he said.

The Association of the Caribbean States is comprised of 25 member states, he said.

"This is an important region having substantial resources and interested in Ukrainian goods, the record of government digitalization, and mutually beneficial political cooperation in international organizations," Kuleba said.

He said he expected his visit would open a new page in Ukraine's relations with Latin American countries and bolster its cooperation with the Global South.
