Baku, Yerevan take step forward at talks hosted by U.S. - Azerbaijani FM
BAKU. May 10 (Interfax) - Baku and Yerevan have taken a step forward at the negotiations hosted by the United States, however, one should be realistic about the negotiating process, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said.
"There were quite intensive discussions of the peace agreement [on May 1-4], which embraced a number of provisions and important matters. We cannot say we have reached full consent. There are quite a lot of differences between the sides' positions, however, certain clauses of the peace agreement were agreed upon at the negotiations. We have taken another step forward," Bayramov told reporters on Wednesday.
Still, "we should be realistic about this process," Bayramov said, adding that Baku stayed committed to the peace process.
According to him, Baku positively views a meeting of the Azerbaijani and Armenian leaders due in Brussels on May 14. "It should be seen as an element of negotiations held by Baku and Yerevan to normalize their relations," he said.
