Covid-19 continuing to spread, preventative measures remain important - Russian Health Ministry
MOSCOW. May 5 (Interfax) - Healthcare professionals in Russia will continue to provide medical aid to Covid-19 patients in full, as the virus is continuing to spread and preventative measures remain important, the Russian health minister's aide Alexei Kuznetsov told Interfax.
"Our doctors will continue to provide medical aid to Covid-19 patients in full. Unfortunately, the virus's circulation is continuing, and preventative measures, including revaccination for risk groups, namely elderly persons and those with chronic diseases, still remain relevant," Kuznetsov said.
World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said earlier that the organization no longer viewed Covid-19 as a global health emergency.
The WHO's International Health Regulations Emergency Committee analyzed Covid-19 incidence statistics and recommended that the director-general end the public health emergency of international concern declaration. Ghebreyesus pointed out, however, that this does not mean that the danger of coronavirus's spread is completely over.
