IAEA conducts inspection at another Ukrainian NPP

MOSCOW. May 5 (Interfax) - The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) successfully conducted an inspection at the Khmelnitsky Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) on May 3, 2023 under the Ukrainian-IAEA Safeguards Agreement in connection with the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), the Ukrainian State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate (SNRIU) said.

"The objective of such inspections is to verify the absence of undeclared nuclear material and information on the design of a nuclear facility presented by Ukraine in line with the agreement," Ukrainian media reported citing the SNRIU's statement on its website on Friday.

The inspection was conducted by an IAEA inspector in the presence of an SNRIU officer, it said.

The IAEA inspector did not discover any irregularities, it said.

The IAEA had conducted a similar inspection at the Rovno NPP several days before.
