IAEA twice inspects Rovno NPP in Ukraine

MOSCOW. May 4 (Interfax) - The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has successfully conducted two inspections at the Rovno Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) under the agreement between Ukraine and the IAEA in connection with the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons.

The inspections were carried out by IAEA officials in the presence of an inspector from the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine (SNRIU), Ukrainian media said on Wednesday, citing the SNRIU website.

"The purpose of the inspections was to verify the absence of undeclared nuclear material and information on the design of the nuclear installation provided by Ukraine in accordance with the agreement," the inspectorate said.

No complaints were put forth by the IAEA inspectors following the check, SNRIU said.
