Grain exports shrink by almost one third in Ukraine in April

MOSCOW. May 3 (Interfax) - Exports of grain and pulses from Ukraine totaled 3.62 million tonnes in April, down 32.2% from the previous month, but 3.9 times higher than in April 2022, the Ukrainian media reported, citing the Agrarian Policy Ministry.

Exports of wheat dropped 10.1% to 1.39 million tonnes, corn by 42.6%, to 2.04 million tonnes, barley by 18.1%, to 185,000 tonnes compared to March of this year, the ministry said.

At the same time, exports of flour fell 28.9% to 11,800 tonnes.

In total, Ukraine exported 41.60 million tonnes of grain and pulses during current marketing year (July to June), which is 9.3% less than over the same period of the previous marketing year (MY).

In particular, exports of wheat in the 2022-2023 MY dropped 22.4% to 14.39 million tonnes, barley by 56.6%, to 2.46 million tonnes, while exports of corn increased 15.1% to 24.42 million tonnes, and flour by 86.2% to 127,700 tonnes against the same period of the 2021-2022 MY.
