Zelensky meets with Horizon Capital top officials, investors

MOSCOW. May 2 (Interfax) - Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has met with Horizon Capital Founding Partner and CEO Lenna Koszarny and international investors from eight countries, such as the United States, the Netherlands, France, Finland, Sweden, Switzerland, and Denmark, and from two international organizations.

Horizon Capital representatives said that $254 million had been raised for the company's new fund, Horizon Capital Growth Fund IV (HCGF IV), which will invest in Ukrainian companies, Ukrainian media said on Saturday, citing Zelensky's press service.

Zelensky, in turn, thanked, those present at the meeting for their participation in the fund and for investments in Ukraine.

"It's important because this is your trust. And I want to thank you because it is priceless," the president said.

Ukraine is interested in investments and in cooperation that contributes to the development of the economy and industry, to modernization and the progress of new technologies, Zelensky said, listing the development of the IT sector, the energy sector and agriculture among priorities.

Deputy Head of Zelensky's Office Rostislav Shurma, for his part, said that Horizon Capital Growth Fund IV is not just a powerful step by investors but the beginning of further cooperation.

"This is the first big milestone investment [since the start of the crisis]. The fund is a clear signal that global business and investors believe in Ukraine," Shurma said.

Koszarny, in turn, thanked the fund members for their contribution and for the fund's prompt establishment.

Nor will Horizon Capital delay investing funds in Ukrainian businesses that are in need of support and investments, she said.

"We plan to conclude the first investments within 30 days. We will not wait and waste time. We understand that right now Ukrainian entrepreneurs need capital," Koszarny said.

Representatives of investors who took part in the meeting also reiterated their readiness to support Ukraine and the private sectors of the country's economy. They believe that investments will not only contribute to the Ukrainian economy's growth but will serve as a foundation for its successful future.

Horizon Capital is a leading investment company in Central and Eastern Europe, managing assets worth $1.4 billion, including more than $700 million raised to support visionary entrepreneurs from Ukraine and Moldova in the past five years. The total capital of the fund's investors tops $630 billion.
