U.S. Treasury sanctions Russia's FSB

WASHINGTON. April 27 (Interfax) - The United States has added Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Intelligence Organization (IRGC-IO) and the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) to its sanctions list, the Department of the Treasury said in a statement.

The sanctions were imposed "for their involvement in the wrongful detention of U.S. nationals abroad," it said.

Both were placed on the Specially Designated Nationals (SDN) List, the Department said.

Among those newly sanctioned are also four high-ranking IRGC-IO representatives.

The Treasury said that it has thus implemented a resolution of the U.S Department of State.
