There can be no peace at the expense of territorial compromises - Zelensky after speaking with Xi

MOSCOW. April 27 (Interfax) - There can be no peace at the expense of territorial compromises, the Ukrainian media quoted Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky as saying in a commentary after he spoke with Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping by phone.

"Had a phone call with Chinese President Xi Jinping. The whole range of topical issues of bilateral relations was discussed during the hour-long conversation. Emphasis was put on ways of possible cooperation to establish a just and sustainable peace for Ukraine," Zelensky said in his comment.

"There can be no peace at the expense of territorial compromises. The territorial integrity of Ukraine must be restored within the 1991 borders," he said.

Ways of strengthening Ukrainian-Chinese partnership were discussed, Zelensky said, adding that China was Ukraine's No. 1 partner before the crisis. "I believe that our conversation today will give a powerful impetus to the return, preservation and development of this dynamic at all levels," he said.
