Novak: Around 20% of Russian oil previously supplied to Europe redirected to Asia

MOSCOW. April 26 (Interfax) - Russia has redirected to Asian markets around 20% of the oil previously supplied to European countries, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said while speaking at the Knowledge.First educational marathon.

"The energy resources that were previously shipped to Europe have largely been redirected to new markets. In terms of oil, we have probably redirected about 20% of the volumes previously supplied to Europe to the markets of India, China, and other countries," Novak said.

Novak said that following the implementation of Western sanctions in March 2022, Russia quickly, "within a month-and-a-half", was able to establish new supply chains and contacts with "friendly" countries, primarily in the Asia-Pacific region, as well as with countries in Latin America and Africa.

This refers to 20% of total Russian oil exports in 2021, the Russian government press service told Interfax.
