Ukraine, NASA sign statement on civil space cooperation

MOSCOW. April 24 (Interfax) - The United States National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and the Ukrainian State Space Agency have signed a joint statement to promote cooperation in the space exploration, communication, and navigation sectors, Ukrainian Ambassador to the U.S. Oksana Markarova said.

"The National Aeronautics and Space Administration and the State Space Agency of Ukraine signed a joint statement at the NASA headquarters in Washington," Ukrainian media quoted Markarova as saying on her social account last Friday.

NASA Administrator Bill Nelson and State Space Agency of Ukraine deputy head Vladimir Mikheyev, who is in Washington as part of a Ukrainian delegation attending a session of the Ukrainian-American working group on nonproliferation and export control, along with Deputy Economy Minister Igor Fomenko "made another step toward new opportunities for the Ukrainian space rocket industry and broader cooperation between Ukraine and the U.S. in the areas of civil space, communications, and navigation, as well as International Space Station projects and numerous other fields," she said.

"We are working on an innovative future," Markarova said.
