Zelensky's office head hopes NATO will provide Ukraine with security guarantees

MOSCOW. April 24 (Interfax) - On instructions from Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andrei Yermak has spoken with the foreign policy advisors of the Swedish, Norwegian, Danish and Icelandic heads of government and with the foreign policy advisor to the Finnish president over the phone, Ukrainian media reported citing the Ukrainian presidential press service.

He outlined the Ukrainian vision of the possible scope and specific mechanisms of implementing the guarantees stipulated in the Kiev security treaty drafted by the Yermak-Rasmussen international expert group. In his opinion, a clear algorithm of Ukraine's progress toward membership in the Alliance should be proposed at the NATO summit in Vilnius.

"I hope that the Nordic countries will support providing security guarantees to Ukraine before it becomes a full-fledged NATO member and stand ready to sign the relevant document," Yermak said.
