Lavrov arrives in New York for UNSC events - Russian Foreign Ministry

MOSCOW. April 24 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has arrived in New York for events within the Russian presidency of the UN Security Council, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said.

"Sergei Lavrov has arrived in New York. A UN Security Council meeting will be held tomorrow under his chairmanship," Zakharova said on Telegram on Monday.

Over 700,000 persons were watching Lavrov's plane fly on the Flightradar service, while the total number of users interested in the flight hit a record of nearly 3 million, she said.

As reported earlier, Lavrov will take part in the effective multilateralism through the defense of the principles of the Charter of the United Nations open debate on April 24 and will chair another high-level meeting of the UN Security Council, the situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian question, open debate, on the next day.

Presidency of the UN Security Council passed on to Russia in April.
