Putin instructs govt to submit proposals on attaining demography goals

MOSCOW. April 21 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has given the government until October 15 to submit proposals on drawing up a comprehensive program for the development of biomedical technologies, taking into account findings of research in the field of demography and life extension.

The president endorsed a list of directives based on the outcomes of a meeting of the Science and Education Council published on the Kremlin website.

In particular, the government was instructed to "submit proposals on developing and defining implementation mechanisms and financing sources for a comprehensive program for the development of biomedical technologies envisioning the use of research findings for attaining demography objectives, among them extending lifespan, improving health, and increasing the period of the Russian population's active working capacity in different age groups."

The deadline for submitting such proposals is October 15, 2023.
