Ukraine's Nova Poshta halts shipment of foodstuffs to EU due to import restrictions

MOSCOW. April 21 (Interfax) - The Nova Poshta group of companies has suspended accepting food products for shipment to all European Union countries due to import restrictions at the Polish customs, Ukrainian media said, citing the Nova Poshta press service.

"We are awaiting further clarification from the governments of Poland and Ukraine to specify a possible timeline for resuming such shipments," it said.

All Nova Poshta branches are not currently accepting any food products within international parcels bound for the EU due to the introduction by the Polish government of temporary restrictions on the import and transit of a range of foodstuffs from Ukraine, such as sugar, crops, confectionery products, fruits, vegetables, etc.

The Nova Poshta group of companies, founded in 2001, is the leader on Ukraine's express delivery market, with more than 6,000 branches operating across the country. Nova Poshta offers its clients the full range of logistics and related services. The group includes Ukrainian and foreign companies, among them the Nova Poshta postal company, NP Logistics, Post Finance (Forpost system), and Nova Poshta Global.

Poland, Slovakia, Hungary and Bulgaria have imposed a temporary ban on the import of a number of agricultural products from Ukraine, but have not banned their transit across their national territory.
