Ukraine will become NATO member in future - Stoltenberg in Kiev

BRUSSELS. April 20 (Interfax) - Ukraine will eventually join NATO and alliance members will help the country achieve this goal, NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said during a visit to Kiev on Thursday.

"Ukraine's future is in the Euro-Atlantic family. Ukraine's future is in NATO. The support we provide to Ukraine is making future membership for Ukraine possible," Stoltenberg said at a press conference in Kiev that was streamed on the NATO website.

As reported earlier, Stoltenberg arrived in Kiev on Thursday morning. The visit was not announced in advance. This is the first trip by the NATO secretary-general to the Ukrainian capital since the beginning of the Russian special military operation in Ukraine.
