Russian energy companies request Energy Ministry to consider possibility of withdrawing from modernization projects

MOSCOW. April 20 (Interfax) - Russian power-generating companies have requested that the Energy Ministry allow them the possibility of withdrawing from projects to modernize thermal power plant (TPP) without being fined, Alexandra Panina, chairperson of the supervisory board of the Council of Energy Producers and a member of the executive board of PJSC Inter RAO , said during a meeting of the Energy Ministry on the results of the 2022-2023 autumn-winter heating period.

A decision like this could be taken if project costs have risen sharply and a company has provided documentation confirming the sharp rise in costs, Panina said.
