Bolshoi Theater plans China tour

MOSCOW. April 19 (Interfax) - The Bolshoi Theater is planning to tour China in 2023 and 2024, Bolshoi Director Vladimir Urin said.

"We plan to travel there again with both [our] opera and ballet performances in 2024. And we are currently in detailed negotiations regarding a trip there not only in 2023, namely a tour by [the Bolshoi's] ballet company in July, but also for [our] opera and ballet company in 2024," Urin said, when asked whether the Bolshoi was broadening cooperation with China.

He declined to specify what performances the Bolshoi would put on in China.

Russian presidential envoy for international cultural cooperation Mikhail Shvydkoi said in early March that Russia was exploring the possibility of the Bolshoi touring China.
