Armenian FM affirms Yerevan's commitment to peace process with Baku at meeting with U.S. diplomat

YEREVAN. April 19 (Interfax) - Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan has affirmed Armenia's commitment to the peace process with Azerbaijani at a meeting with Erika Olson, U.S. deputy assistant secretary of state overseeing policy for Southern Europe and the Caucasus, in Yerevan.

"The meeting addressed the establishment of stability in the region, the settlement of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations, the demarcation and security of borders, the unblocking of all economic and transport contacts in the region, and the Nagorno-Karabakh problem," the press service for the Armenian Foreign Ministry said. "Mirzoyan presented Armenia's approach to resolving key outstanding issues, including ensuring the rights and security of Nagorno-Karabakh Armenians to achieve a comprehensive and enduring peace," it said.

Mirzoyan "reaffirmed Armenia's commitment to the peace process and underlined the importance of Azerbaijan's renouncement of maximalist claims, aggressive policy and militant rhetoric in regard to the people of Nagorno-Karabakh and the territorial integrity of Armenia," the ministry said.

"The sides discussed the humanitarian situation in Nagorno-Karabakh and the importance of unblocking the Lachin corridor consistent with the provisions of the trilateral statement of November 9, 2020. They also exchanged views on the Armenian-U.S. bilateral agenda, including the Armenian-U.S. strategic dialogue," it said.
