Putin to attend Akkuyu NPP fuel loading ceremony in virtual format - Erdogan

ISTANBUL. April 19 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin will attend the fuel loading ceremony at Turkey's Akkuyu nuclear power plant on April 27 in the virtual format, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said.

"Mr. Putin will take part in the ceremony in the virtual format," the Turkish television channel TRT Haber quoted Erdogan as saying.

Erdogan said at the end of March that Putin might attend the ceremony either in person or virtually.

Russia's Rosatom state corporation is planning to supply fuel to the Akkuyu NPP under construction in Turkey in spring. The nuclear fuel is due to be loaded on April 27.

Rosatom is building the Akkuyu NPP on the BOO (Build - Own - Operate) terms, which imply Russia's ownership of the foreign nuclear power plant. Currently, Rosatom companies have a nearly 100% share in the Akkuyu Nuclear capital.
