Minsk reports extension of Polish ban on cross-border rail traffic until end of April

MINSK. April 18 (Interfax) - The Polish authorities have extended the ban on rail traffic across the Polish-Belarusian border until April 30, the Belarusian State Border Committee said, citing the Polish media.

"According to Polish media outlets, the Polish government has extended the validity of the resolution limiting rail traffic on the border with Belarus until April 30. This was formally related to the Covid-19 pandemic and took effect in March 2020," the committee said.

The reasons for the new extension of rail traffic restrictions and the prospects for their lifting are not reported.

All checkpoints for road vehicles on the border with the Grodno region of Belarus have been closed at the initiative of the Polish authorities. Two checkpoints are currently operating on the border with the Brest region, including Kukuryki for trucks and Terespol for cars.
