Ukraine intends to rebuild schools in partnership with UNDP, UNOPS

MOSCOW. April 17 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian Ministry of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) have agreed to implement jointly two school rehabilitation projects, namely, Echo4Schools-UA and the Rehabilitation of Schools in Ukraine, Ukrainian media reported citing the press service for the Ukrainian Reconstruction Ministry.

Under these projects, there are plans to repair and retrofit over 100 schools in 14 Ukrainian regions.

"Thanks to partners from the UN Development Program and UNOPS for their cooperation and willingness to work promptly so that the start of the new school year for many Ukrainians was not disrupted," the statement said.

"I would like to express special gratitude to the European Commission, which has allocated 100 million euros for the reconstruction and retrofit of schools, including as part of these projects," Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Reconstruction Alexander Kubrakov said.
