GAZ's claims of 28.4 bln rubles in lawsuit against VW include 20.8 bln rubles in lost profits - arbitration case files

MOSCOW. April 12 (Interfax) - Gorky Auto Plant (GAZ) is seeking to receive compensation specifically for lost profits totaling 20.8 billion rubles, as part of the second major lawsuit in the Arbitration Court of the Nizhny Novgorod Region against Germany's Volkswagen, which is part of a claim totaling 28.4 billion rubles, according to the file materials of arbitration cases.

As noted in the text of the court ruling, around 20.8 billion rubles of the total amount of claims, which became known the day before, are for compensation that GAZ is seeking from VW for "lost profits in the amount not received as a result of the inability to produce cars with [Volkswagen] engines and sell them to their distributors."

Another 5.2 billion rubles are claims for compensation for "actual damage in the form of expenses of the GAZ auto plant in order to compensate its distributor for losses caused by failure to fulfill obligations to supply cars with the respondent's engines."

Moreover, almost 2.5 billion rubles in damages are assessed in the form of investments "in the organization of manufacturing cars based on the respondent's engines, which cannot be paid off owing to the unlawful termination of the supply of engines."
