SGC looking to expand business outside Russia, working on several interesting deals - CEO
MOSCOW. April 11 (Interfax) - Siberian Generating Company LLC (SGC, part of SUEK) is considering expanding its business outside Russia, and it may take place as early as 2023, Maxim Basov, CEO of SUEK and SGC, said during a conversation with employees of the energy company .
"We are working on a number of interesting deals," Basov said.
SUEK, the Siberian Coal Energy Company, is often the subject of rumors about its participation in various transactions in Russia's energy market. Divisions of the company in recent years have already acquired the Reftinskaya thermal power plant from Enel Russia (now - EL5-Energo), the Primorskaya TPP from RusHydro , as well as the Krasnoyarsk GRES-2 plant from OGK-2 .
In the fall of 2022, Basov, answering a question from journalists as to whether the company is now considering the possibility of new power plant purchases in Russia, said that SUEK was primarily interested in coal assets and coal generation.
SUEK includes 30 coal mining enterprises, 7 processing plants and installations, a terminal in the port of Vanino (Khabarovsk Territory), Murmansk Commercial Sea Port , repair and mechanical plants in 8 regions of Russia, as well as the Siberian Generating Company.
