Russia to spend almost 290 bln rubles on ecology in 2023 - Deputy PM Abramchenko

MOSCOW. April 10 (Interfax) - Russia has set aside 289 billion rubles of public funding for environmental causes, including the Ecology national project, in 2023, Deputy Prime Minister Viktoria Abramchenko told New People party members of the State Duma on Monday.

"Some 289 billion rubles are envisaged for the implementation of all environmental measures in 2023. Key tools include the Ecology national project, state programs and strategic socioeconomic development initiatives through 2030," Abramchenko was quoted by her press service as saying.

Russia accumulates around 8 billion tonnes of various waste each year, and is now creating a separate industry for their sorting and recycling, she said. According to Abramchenko, Russia already sorts over 50% of solid household waste and recycles almost 12%.
