GAZ files second major lawsuit against VW in Russian court, this time for 28.4 bln rubles

MOSCOW. April 10 (Interfax) - The Gorky Automobile Plant filed its second lawsuit against German automaker Volkswagen in the Nizhny Novgorod Region Arbitration Court - this time demanding a settlement amount of 28.4 billion rubles, according to the case files.

The lawsuit was filed with the court on April 7. The details of the suit and the amount of the claim are not revealed in the files.

Neither the press services of GAZ nor the Russian representative office of Volkswagen has commented on the latest developments.

As reported, GAZ's first major lawsuit against Volkswagen was filed with the Nizhny Novgorod Region Arbitration Court in mid-March. The statement contained demands for the recovery of damages of 15.6 billion rubles from the German automaker, whose cars were assembled under contract at the GAZ Nizhny Novgorod facilities until the spring of 2022. GAZ also demanded that the termination of the contract assembly agreement be declared invalid.
