Moldova interested in diversifying gas supplies, counts on more investors from Azerbaijan - Deputy PM Popescu

BAKU. April 10 (Interfax) - Chisinau is interested in diversifying gas supplies, including from Azerbaijan, Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Nicu Popescu said.

"I received Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov in Chisinau. We commended the results achieved in the 31 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries and expressed our interest in enhancing cooperation in the fields of energy, economy and the agro-industrial sector," Popescu said on Telegram on Sunday.

Chisinau is interested in attracting as many Azerbaijani investors as possible to Moldova to implement joint projects, he said. "Our country is also interested in diversifying the sources and routes of natural gas supplies," the deputy prime minister said.

Popescu noted that an important topic of the talks was interaction within international and regional organizations, "including mutual support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our countries."
