National banks of Ukraine, Poland extend $1 bln UAH/USD swap line by another year

MOSCOW. April 6 (Interfax) - The national banks of Poland and Ukraine on April 6 extended their agreement on the UAH/USD swap line by another year, the Polish regulator said in a Thursday statement.

"The terms of the agreement are unchanged: the transaction is for the equivalent of up to $1 billion. The contract signed on April 11, 2022 has been extended by another with the possibility of further extension," Ukrainian media quoted the Polish regulator as saying.

The decision to open the swap line of up to $1 billion was reached in February last year.

The National Bank of Ukraine said it had "not made use of this funding, but such support by the Polish central bank has been a safety net for Ukraine's financial sector."
