China's Sinotruk Group looking to localize truck production in Chelyabinsk Region - regional govt

CHELYABINSK. April 6 (Interfax) - The Chelyabinsk Region government discussed the full-fledged manufacture of trucks and special equipment with the leadership of Sinotruk Group (China), specifically the possibility of localizing the production of long haul trucks in the region, the press service of the regional government reported.

"Today, an enterprise in the southern Urals is negotiating with Chinese automakers to increase orders for assembling heavy vehicles at its facilities. We are interested in a visit from a Sinotruk delegation to the Chelyabinsk region to demonstrate our potential and conduct negotiations," Alexei Teksler, Chelyabinsk Region governor, said in the report.

The governor's press service did not specify to Interfax which Russian enterprise they are talking about.

A delegation from the Chelyabinsk Region headed by the governor is on a working trip to China. Negotiations are planned with the heads of large manufacturing companies in Shandong Province.

Sinotruk Group is a Chinese state-owned truck manufacturer, producing trucks, semi-trailers, truck tractors, and dump trucks (Sitrak, Howo, Steyr, Huanghe, HoHan, Wangpai, Fupo and Weipo brands).
