EBRD to provide 9.6 mln euros to Ukrainian grain trader to expand rail terminal near Polish border

MOSCOW. April 3 (Interfax) - The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has approved the provision of a 9.6-million-euro loan to Agrosem LLC, a Ukrainian grain exporter and distributor of fertilizers and agricultural machinery, to expand a rail terminal near the border with Poland.

The total value of the project, including the development of a grain transshipment complex and container yards facility, is 13.7 million euros.

Another 1.5 million euros shall be provided to co-finance the project as an investment grant from the United States "within their contribution to the Ukraine Crisis Response Special Fund," it said.

"The Project will improve Ukraine's transport connectivity with the EU by addressing the shortage of modern transshipment capacity at the Ukraine/Poland border, which is one of the key infrastructure bottlenecks," the EBRD said.

It should facilitate the development of alternative transportation routes for grain exports from Ukraine, it said.

The Agrosem LLC logistics terminal is located near the Mostiska-2 railway station in Ukraine's Lvov region. It specializes in handling and transshipping various types of cargo, including fertilizers. The company owns grain storage facilities. Its monthly transshipment volume ranges between 10,000 and 30,000 tonnes.
