Six-point earthquake shakes Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky

PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY. April 3 (Interfax) - Seismologists have recorded a 5.7-point earthquake in Avacha Bay, 48 kilometers from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, the Kamchatka branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences' Joint Geophysical Service said.

According to tentative reports, the quake reached six points in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, the report said.

An Interfax correspondent reported that furniture was shaking and objects were falling to the ground in apartments in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, while people ran outdoors.
