U.S. State Dept says got no notice from Russia about suspension of New START notifications

WASHINGTON. March 30 (Interfax) - The United States has not received official notice from Russia about the suspension of notifications under the New START, U.S. Department of State deputy spokesperson Vedant Patel said on Wednesday.

"We have not received any notice indicating a change," Patel said at a briefing, when asked to comment on Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov's statement about the suspension of New START notifications.

Earlier on Wednesday, Ryabkov said that all forms of New START notifications, including test launch warnings, were suspended.

"There won't be notifications at all. Every format has been suspended for data exchange. All notifications, all forms of notifications, the entire exchange of data, all of the inspections, and any kind of work done under the treaty have been suspended and will not happen. And this does not depend on the posture the United States might take," Ryabkov said in response to a question about whether the suspension concerned notifications and warnings of test launches.
