Russia, Nicaragua agree on cooperation in non-energy nuclear technologies

MOSCOW. March 30 (Interfax) - Russia has signed an agreement with Nicaragua on cooperation in projects involving non-energy uses of nuclear technologies, Russia's Rosatom corporation said on its Telegram channel.

"Russia will provide assistance to Nicaragua in the creation and implementation of projects involving the use of nuclear and radiation technologies in agriculture, healthcare, and scientific research," Rosatom said.

Those projects include a center for nuclear medicine, a multipurpose radiation center, and a stand "which could be used for educational and research purposes," Rosatom quoted its CEO Alexei Likhachyov as saying.

In the past, the parties signed a roadmap and a memorandum on such cooperation. In particular, a document signed in 2022 envisaged, among non-energy atom use, a feasibility study of projects in geothermal, hydro and wind power.
