Ukrainian govt approves 2nd U.S. grant in amount of $2.5 bln

MOSCOW. March 29 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian government has approved a second grant from the United States in the amount of $2.5 billion to be acquired via a project of the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the International Development Association, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmygal said.

"Later today, the government will pass a resolution to receive a second grant from the United States this year. This is a matter of $2.5 billion. The money will be received via a project of the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the International Development Association. A second tranche of this year will therefore be obtained in the amount of $2,660 million," the Ukrainian media quoted Shmygal as saying at a government meeting on Tuesday.

According to the prime minister, the grant will be spent on salaries of rescuers, teachers and doctors, alongside benefits of pensioners, internally displaced persons, disabled persons, and poor families.
