Amanat party leader Koshanov elected speaker Kazakh parliament lower house
ASTANA. March 29 (Interfax) - Yerlan Koshanov, the Amanat party leader, has been elected speaker of the Mazhilis, the Kazakh parliament's lower house, an Interfax correspondent reports.
"Ninety-eight voting papers were issued. All 98 voted in favor," said Zhanarbek Ashimzhanov, the count commission chair and the parliament member.
The members of the parliament also voted for a resolution according to which Koshanov was elected Mazhilis speaker.
The Amanat party's member Baktykozha Izmukhambetov nominated Koshanov for speaker. There were no other proposals.
