ROC to watch closely process of int'l federations granting Russians access to competitions - Pozdnyakov

MOSCOW. March 28 (Interfax) - The Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) will monitor the process of international sport federations complying with the recommendations issued by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the body that has allowed for the participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes on the condition that certain criteria are met, ROC President Stanislav Pozdnyakov said.

"We will monitor the activities of international federations in terms of granting Russians access to international competitions," Pozdnyakov told reporters on Tuesday.

IOC President Thomas Bach said earlier that Russian and Belarusian athletes would be allowed to participate in international competitions under a neutral flag and solely in individual tournaments. No participation of Russian or Belarusian athletes in any team events is currently on the table.

The IOC will decide later on whether to allow Russians and Belarusians to compete at the Olympic Games in 2024 and 2026.
