IAEA's Grossi says visited Dnieper HPP, met with Zelensky

BERLIN. March 28 (Interfax) - International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi said on Monday that he visited the Dnieper Hydropower Plant (HPP) and met with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.

"I met Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky today in Zaporozhye city and had a rich exchange on the protection of the Zaporozhye NPP and its staff," Grossi said on Twitter on Monday.

He said Zelensky and he also examined the Dnieper HPP. "The Dnieper hydroelectric station is an essential part of the system that sustains the nuclear safety of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant. Zelensky showed me the recent damage suffered by the dam," he said.

Grossi had said at the end of last week that he planned to visit the Zaporozhye NPP to assess nuclear safety and the security situation there. The visit was scheduled for March 29.
