EU countries imported 20 mln tonnes of oil from Azerbaijan in 2022 worth 15.2 billion euro

BAKU. March 27 (Interfax) - European Union member countries in 2022 imported 19.845 million tonnes of oil from Azerbaijan, and paid 15.165 billion euro for it, according to Eurostat agency materials shown to Interfax.

In 2021, 19.974 million tonnes of oil worth 9.65 billion euro was delivered from Azerbaijan to European Union countries.

Thus, oil supplied from Azerbaijan to the EU in 2022 decreased by 0.6% in volume, yet increased 1.7 times in revenue.

In the EU countries, the largest oil importers from Azerbaijan in 2022 were Italy at 9.53 million tonnes, a decrease of 38.7%, for 6.89 billion euro (an 18.9% increase); Germany at 2.24 million tonnes, an increase of 1.5 times, for 1.69 billion euro (2.5 times growth); Spain at 1.95 million tonnes, a 44.7% increase, for 1.42 billion euros (2.5 times growth); Czech Republic with 1.82 million tonnes, a 1.6 times increase for 1.4 billion euros (2.7 times growth); Croatia -with 1.41 million tonnes, a 1% decrease, for 1.2 billion euros (growth of 1.9 times).

In addition, last year Portugal imported 1.12 million tonnes of oil from Azerbaijan, a decrease of 3.4%, for 816.5 million euros (1.5 times growth); Romania purchased 708,653 tonnes, a 2.7% increase, for 523.6 million euros (an increase of 4.3 times); Greece - 537,515 tonnes, up 2.4 times, for 408.2 million euro (growth of 4.7 times); Ireland - 531,266 tonnes for 419 million euros (did not buy in 2021), France - 422,339 tonnes, an increase of 2.4 times, for 377.7 million euros (growth of 4.8 times).

In 2022, Austria and the Netherlands also bought oil from Azerbaijan in small volumes.
