Canadian project SURGe to provide expert support to Ukrainian Restoration Ministry

MOSCOW. March 27 (Interfax) - The Support to Ukraine's Reforms for Governance (SURGe) project, which is funded by the Canadian government, will provide expert support to the Ukrainian Ministry of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development dealing with recovery, regional development and decentralization (Ministry of Restoration).

Ukrainian media reported citing the ministry's press service that Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration Alexander Kubrakov and SURGe Director Tawnia Leigh Sanford Ammar signed a relevant memorandum on cooperation.

The project will start operating in five regions, the statement said.

The SURGe experts will work with the ministry to create a new effective model of regional development, and will help establish Reform Support Offices in the communities. The project will also support management and monitoring of investments, digitalization, corruption prevention, and spatial planning reforms.

SURGe is an international technical assistance project being implemented by Alinea International and funded by the Canadian government.
