Ukraine amends integovt agreement on railway transport with Moldova
MOSCOW. March 27 (Interfax) - The amendments to the Ukrainian-Moldovan intergovernmental agreement on railway transport endorsed by the government enable establishing direct railway cargo traffic with the Reni port in the Odessa region and maximizing the potential of the Danube ports, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmygal said.
"We're improving logistics. We have amended the intergovernmental agreement between Ukraine and Moldova. Now our country will have direct railway traffic with the Reni port through the Moldovan territory. We will thus maximize the potential of the Danube ports," Ukrainian media outlets quoted Shmygal as saying on social networks.
The Ukrainian ports on the Danube River increased cargo turnover by three and a half times, and it is not a limit, he said.
As reported, railway cargo traffic will be established via the Berezine-Basarabeasca checkpoint. Over 23 kilometers of railway tracks, both in Ukraine and Moldova, have been already restored in this section.
