Belarus extends industrial goods export ban another six months

MINSK. March 24 (Interfax) - The government of Belarus has extended the ban imposed in March last year on the export of more than 250 types of industrial goods for another six months.

The corresponding resolution of the Council of Ministers was published on the National Legal Internet Portal.

"Establish a temporary ban on the export outside Belarus to the EAEU states of goods based on to the list according to the annex, regardless of country of origin; outside the customs territory of the EAEU from the republic to states that are not EAEU members, when such goods are placed under customs procedures for export, temporary export, processing outside the customs territory and re-export," the resolution says.

According to the document, the ban does not apply to Russian and Belarusian goods accompanied by a certificate of origin. In addition, the restrictions do not apply to goods transported as international transit traffic between parts of the territory of Russia in transit through Belarus, as well as in a number of other cases.

The annex to the decree contains a list of 254 manufactured goods that are prohibited for export. Specifically, the export of boilers, turbines, engines, vehicles, certain types of industrial equipment, machinery and equipment for agriculture, machine tools, locomotives, railcars, paint and varnish materials, and scrap metal is prohibited.

In March 2022, the Belarusian authorities imposed a six-month ban on the export of a number of industrial goods "to protect the economic interests of the state." In September last year, the decision was extended for six months.
