Russian Central Bank knows of no cases when major players have had petitions approved for unfreezing assets in EU

MOSCOW. March 23 (Interfax) - There are no precedents thus far regarding major players in the Russian financial market having their respective petitions approved for the release of assets frozen in the European depositories of Euroclear and Clearstream, according to the Central Bank of Russia (CBR).

"I do not have such information regarding major participants. There have been some rumors about certain individuals, though I could neither confirm nor deny them. There have been none [positive decisions] for major participants," Central Bank Deputy Governor Philipp Gabunia told journalists on the sidelines of the Russian Financial Market Forum organized by the ACRA rating agency.

Regulators in Belgium and Luxembourg, where Euroclear and Clearstream are registered, are currently reviewing petitions to unfreeze the assets of unsanctioned individuals who had their respective assets frozen last year.
