Ukraine has already sown 82,700 hectares with spring cereals and legumes

MOSCOW. March 17 (Interfax) - Ukrainian farmers planted 66,600 hectares of grain and leguminous crops over the past week, Ukrainian media reported with a reference to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy.

The leader is the Ternopol region, where 20,400 hectares have been sown.

In total, since the beginning of the sowing campaign, which started in early March, all categories of farms have sown grain and leguminous crops on an area of 82,700 hectares, of which 26,000 hectares are spring wheat, 44,200 hectares are spring barley, 12,000 hectares are peas, and 500 hectares are oats.

According to the agency, as of March 17, the sowing campaign is underway in 10 regions of Ukraine.

As reported, Ukrainian authorities expect to increase the area of spring sowing this year by 30% compared to 2022, when 14.16 million hectares of land were sown with the main crops. In 2021, 16.92 million hectares were sown.
