Zelensky and U.S. entrepreneur Powell Jobs discuss future of Ukraine's IT sector

MOSCOW. March 16 (Interfax) - Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky and U.S. entrepreneur Laurene Powell Jobs discussed the development of Ukraine's IT sector at a meeting in Kiev.

"I met with American entrepreneur and philanthropist Laurene Powerll Jobs. We discussed the importance of maintaining global unity around support for Ukraine," Ukrainian media outlets quoted Zelensky as saying in a social media post.

Zelensky said during the meeting that Ukraine's IT sector has proven its sustainability and efficiency.

"Ukraine will continue to develop its IT sector. The IT sector will help promote entrepreneurship and will help root out corruption and simplify interaction between citizens and government institutions," he said.

That meeting was also attended by Jeffrey Goldberg, editor-in-chief of The Atlantic magazine, which is owned by Powell Jobs, and journalist Anne Applebaum, Zelensky's press service said.

The Ukrainian president said that it is necessary to create an educational model for training IT specialists, a model that will facilitate the emergence of key technological developments for various sectors of the economy.

"Ukraine needs not only to step forward - rather, we need to leap forward as a modern country. But you cannot leap forward without modern people, without scientists. Of course, I want to unite them, to build an atmosphere where people can share their knowledge, information and can create together," Zelensky said.
