Zelensky meets with Icelandic PM, invites business to Ukraine

MOSCOW. March 15 (Interfax) - Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has met with Icelandic Prime Minister Katrin Jakobsdottir and invited Icelandic business to invest in green energy projects in Ukraine.

"Emphasized the prospects of using Iceland's green energy practices and invited Icelandic business to invest in projects in Ukraine," the Ukrainian media quoted Zelensky as saying on a social network.

"We appreciate the assistance provided to us by Iceland in political, financial, humanitarian and other areas," he said.

According to the Ukrainian media, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmygal also met with Jakobsdottir to discuss energy affairs.

A joint declaration released at the end of the visit said that Iceland would continue to give effective political, economic and humanitarian support to Ukraine.

Iceland will contribute to the rapid recovery of Ukraine, especially its energy sector, and will be supporting Ukraine for as long as necessary, the declaration said.
