Moldova to receive $94 mln under IMF program

CHISINAU. March 14 (Interfax) - Moldova will receive $94 million under the International Monetary Fund program, Ruben Atoyan, head of an IMF review mission in Moldova, said at a joint press conference with Moldovan Prime Minister Dorin Recean. "We have completed the third review within the framework of the IMF program. Of course, this report is subject to approval by the IMF and the Executive Board by the end of April," Atoyan said.

He said structural reforms were being carried out consistently in Moldova, but efforts were needed to ensure the independence of state institutions fighting corruption. "We saw satisfactory progress in the fight against inefficiency and inequality in the tax system," Atoyan said.

The IMF mission worked in Moldova from March 1 to 14. A 40-month program was approved for Moldova in December 2021. Moldova is due to receive $826 million in total under the program. It has already received $287.2 million.
