Ukrainian FM submits candidacies for ambassadors to China, India, Brazil to president for consideration

MOSCOW. March 14 (Interfax) - Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said on Monday that he had submitted potential candidates for the posts of Ukraine's ambassadors to China, India and Brazil to President Vladimir Zelensky for consideration.

The Foreign Ministry is openly searching for ambassadorial candidates, and the posts of Ukrainian ambassadors to 21 countries, apart from China, India and Brazil, are currently vacant, Ukrainian media outlets said, citing Kuleba's remarks on social media.

"You will learn their names after the publication of the relevant decrees. The only thing I can say is that we plan to send specialists with the experience of work at the level of ministers and deputy ministers to such special countries," he said.

Kuleba said he is confident that "there are strong and professional people in Ukraine."

"We are about to take an unprecedented step - we are creating an open mechanism that allows both diplomats inside the system and people outside it to offer their candidacy for an ambassadorial post," the minister said, adding that in the presence of other equal professional qualities, preference will be given to women.

Kuleba said that he is speaking about the currently vacant posts of Ukraine's ambassadors to countries of Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, the South Caucasus, and Southeast Asia.
