Alabuga SEZ will build a railway line from China logistics hub to Russian Railways infrastructure

KAZAN. March 13 (Interfax) - Tatarstan's Alabuga Special Economic Zone, or SEZ, as part of the Deng Xiaoping logistics complex project geared toward trade with China, will lay 16 km of railroad tracks to connect the future complex with Russian Railways' Kuibyshev railroad, Alabuga's press service said.

Investments in the construction of tracks to the Krugloye Polye and Nikashnovka stations in the republic's Tukaevsky district will reach 3.4 billion rubles. The project was approved by the administration of the Kuibyshev railroad, and work is scheduled to begin in 2023.

"The decision with two points of contiguity was made to ensure the uninterrupted supply of goods to the logistics complex without additional loads on existing infrastructure," Alexander Zaichenko, head of the new sites development service of the Alabuga SEZ, said in the press release.

Earlier it was reported that the Alabuga SEZ would begin construction of a logistics complex named after Deng Xiaoping in March in Tatarstan to serve the trade in petrochemical products with China as well as the supply of components for cars and household appliances.

The complex will be part of Alabuga SEZ's Ethylene 600 industrial park located between the cities of Nizhnekamsk and Naberezhnye Chelny in the immediate vicinity of the M7 Volga federal highway and the Begishevo airport owned by Kamaz . It will be equipped with a container platform 1 km long, which will allow loading and unloading operations with container trains without additional shunting operations.

The first stage of construction is planned for completion by the end of 2023. Investment is estimated at 20 billion rubles.

At the Tatarstan Petrochemical Forum in August 2022, Nizhnekamskneftekhim , part of Sibur, came to an agreement with the Alabuga SEZ to conduct production activities in the Ethylene 600 industrial park requiring an area of about 2 thousand hectares, to be created in Tatarstan. NKNK's projects will become anchors for the park. Taking into account the investment from Sibur, the costs of the Alabuga SEZ for infrastructure and third-party capital, the total investment in the industrial park is estimated at 1.3 trillion rubles.

Investments from Alabuga SEZ in the infrastructure of the technology park should reach about 169 billion rubles.
