Zelensky calls for replacing conventional light bulbs with LED ones more actively

MOSCOW. March 13 (Interfax) - Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has thanked power engineers for conducting repairs of power supply infrastructure elements and called on the households to be more active in joining programs for replacing conventional (incandescent) light bulbs with LED ones.

"I'd like particularly to thank our power engineers and all members of repair crews, local and central authorities, for this week," Ukrainian media quoted Zelensky as saying in a video address in the early hours of Monday.

"The technical capacity for supplying power has been restored now. Kharkov is with electricity. The Zhitomir region is with electricity. All cities and communities that experienced problems with power supply have been powered up again," he said.

"Our program for replacing old bulbs with new LED bulbs is also being actively implemented. In all, Ukrainians have received 12 million LED bulbs. And if we talk about saving energy, this amount would help save up to 600 MW of energy. It's roughly equal to more than half of electricity generated by a very powerful nuclear reactor," he said.
